Reviews
Pleasant quiet walk overlooking Bassenthwaite and a stately house (entrance fee required) with public footpath to the church. The car park is on the opposite side of the road with a couple of disabled bays chargeable on exit. The terrain to the gate is bumpy for wheelchair users, after that the footpath is a fairly smooth tarmac followed by a gravel lane covered in grass and mud.
Forestry England has done a good job with keeping Dodd Wood clean. The car park has a restroom as well.
Good sized car park. Great little tea room. Nice clean toilets. The walk to the summit is a pretty steep climb and quite a long slog, but boy is it worth it. The views are stunning
Overlooking Bassenthwaite, Dodd woods have plenty of cycle and walking paths to suit all people of all abilities
You can climb to the top of Dodd, a Wainwright, or just explore the myriad of paths and find a variety of wildlife here.
There is a large pay and display car park and a cafe.
A car park is available, but I feel it is quite expensive. The Dodd Wood walk is easy and the view is mind blowing. When you reach the top, view bassenthwaite and keswick can be seen. The beauty cannot be captured by camera and cannot be explained. Must go
Managed and kept well...
Great place for a walk with a good network of forest roads. Some great views. Good cafe too.
Parked in the foresety commission carpark, not the biggest but good. Prices seem high, but you are paying for the upkeep of the woodland. There's toilets and a cafe here.
I did the Dodd summit trail, which I highly recommend! It's got stunning scenery and is on gravel paths, and is easy to walk on. The views on the way up and at the top are amazing! It's just over 4 miles and took me 1.5 hours on my own, but it could be up to 3 hours if you are with children.
Really tough walk up to the summit but so worth it for the views when you get there! The woods are gorgeous and the trails are easy to walk on apart from the incline.
The facilities at the car park are great with toilets and a cafe, parking charge is reasonable too
